How this sits against the market
Cheaper bare rates exist, and dearer ones too. The honest comparison is what the rate includes. Published rates as at June 2026:
$8-12/hr
Marketplace direct-hireUpwork, OnlineJobs.ph
You do the recruiting, vetting, management and replacing yourself. Total cost over 12 months usually lands within 10-15% of an agency once your time is counted.
$8-35/hr
Offshore agenciesincl. DotVA
Published agency rates range from about $8/hr for entry admin to $35/hr for bookkeeping. DotVA sits at $12-35 with vetting, AU-hours management and the 30-day replacement guarantee inside the rate, not on top of it.
$40-90/hr
Onshore Australian VAs
Australian-based VA services typically publish rates from around $40/hr and up. Right when you need someone physically local; 2-4x the cost when you don't.

What's included in every placement
Recruiting + vetting
Advertise one role and 300-400 people apply. The 5-stage screen (application, English fluency, role-specific skills assessment, interview with Jenn, a mock-client task built with you) takes that to the 3-5 you meet. Audit the process →
Onboarding
Week-one orientation, tool setup, SOP review with you, and an explicit list of what your VA owns and what they don’t.
Ongoing management
Productivity tracking, weekly check-ins, performance reviews, and a named DotVA team lead you can escalate to.
30-day replacement guarantee
Not the right fit? We find a replacement at no extra cost. Refund the deposit if we can’t.
The founder, not an account manager
Jenn runs your discovery call, builds your shortlist, and stays your principal contact after placement. Most agencies route you to a rep; here the person you meet first is the person responsible.
Proof, not promises
Across 87+ Australian placements: a Melbourne OT clinic got 15 hours a week back, and about 9 in 10 placements make it past day 30 without needing a replacement. Read the case studies →
Need the AI stack itself set up?
Beyond placing VAs, we set up the AI + automation stack your team runs on: Claude Code, Custom GPTs, CRM workflows, AI receptionist, content engines. Project-priced from $497 (stack audit) to $12k+ for the full content engine build.
Prefer a number before a call?
Tell us the role and rough hours, and Jenn emails an indicative monthly cost for your situation, usually within one business day. No call required, no obligation. Or run your own numbers on the VA cost calculator.
“I read every enquiry myself. You'll get a real number, not a sales sequence.”

This form books a call with our client team.
It won't reach our hiring team, so it can't book you an interview. DotVA hires virtual assistants from the top 1% through a separate application system. If you think that's you, apply there with your resume, a short video and (if you have one) a little portfolio.

Pricing questions
What does the $500 deposit cover?
It covers our recruiting + placement work: sourcing candidates, screening, interviews, and presenting a shortlist. If we can't find you a match, you get every cent back. Once you place a VA, the deposit is credited against your first month.
Are these prices including or excluding GST?
Prices are excluding GST. You pay GST on top, which most AU businesses claim back through their BAS.
What’s the minimum commitment?
There isn't one. No lock-in. You give us 14 days notice if you want to pause or stop. Most clients stay 12+ months because it works.
Is there a minimum number of hours per week?
Placements start from 5 hours a week, so you don't need a full-time workload to justify a VA. Most clients begin around 10 hours a week, prove the fit, then add hours as the role grows.
Can I start part-time and scale to full-time?
Yes, and most growing clients do. You keep the same VA and simply add hours as the workload builds. No re-placement process, no new deposit, no starting over.
Why are your rates higher than what I see on Upwork?
Because Upwork is a marketplace. You're paying the VA directly, on top of platform fees, with no vetting, no onboarding, no ongoing management, and no replacement guarantee. DotVA includes all of that.
Can my VA work my hours?
Yes. Our Filipino team can work AEST/AEDT business hours, or async overnight if you'd rather wake up to a done list. Discuss on the discovery call.
How do I know I’m only paying for hours worked?
Every placement includes productivity tracking, weekly check-ins and performance reviews as part of ongoing management, so the hours on your invoice are hours your VA actually worked, and you can see them. If something ever looks off, you escalate to a named DotVA team lead, not a ticket queue.
Do you charge for replacements?
No. If your VA isn't working out within 30 days, we find a replacement at no extra cost. Same in months 2+, you just don't pay for the old VA's notice period.
