Cookie policy
This page explains what cookies dotva.com.au uses, why, and how you can control them. We try to be specific instead of generic.
Our analytics cookies
We use first-party Google Analytics 4 to understand how our content is used, so we can write more of what helps you. It is enabled by default, with IP anonymisation. This is standard, privacy-light measurement for an Australian first-party site, and it sets the standard GA4 cookies:
- _ga – distinguishes unique users, 2 year expiry
- _ga_* – preserves session state, 2 year expiry
We run GA4 with IP anonymisation and Google Consent Mode v2. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we automatically disable both analytics and advertising for you.
Our advertising cookies
We use two advertising tags so we can measure which content leads to enquiries and show our own ads to people who have already visited us. They are enabled by default and switch off the moment you opt out (see below). We only ever use them to reach our own past visitors and people similar to our existing clients, never to track you across unrelated sites.
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel – lets us measure ad results and build retargeting audiences of people who visited dotva.com.au. Sets Meta's _fbp cookie (3 month expiry).
- Google Ads tag – measures conversions from our Google ads and builds remarketing lists. Sets Google's _gcl_* cookies (up to 90 days).
When you submit our booking form, a hashed (irreversible) version of your email and phone may be sent to Google to improve conversion measurement (Enhanced Conversions). We never share your details in a readable form, and never with anyone other than these measurement providers.
What we do not set
We do not use:
- Microsoft Clarity session replay
- TikTok Pixel
- Hotjar or any other heatmap/replay tool
- Any data broker or cross-site behavioural advertising network beyond Meta and Google as described above
If we ever add any of these, we will document them here first.
Third-party services
Some of the third-party services we use may set their own cookies on pages where they are embedded:
- Formspree – sets a session cookie on form submission to prevent spam. Cleared when you close the browser.
- Beehiiv (newsletter signup) – sets cookies on its embed iframe per its own policy.
- Loom – if we embed a Loom video, Loom may set its own cookies for playback.
How to opt out
You can switch off both our analytics and our advertising tags at any time, in any of these ways. Each one turns off everything described above together:
- Turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser or a privacy extension – we honour it automatically, which disables analytics and both ad pixels.
- Use any ad/analytics blocker, or your browser's "block cookies" setting.
- Install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, and adjust your Google ad settings and Meta ad preferences.
- Email hello@dotva.com.au and we'll walk you through it.
