Reviewed by Jenn Yang · Director, DotVA · 87+ AU placements managed · Last checked 18 May 2026
What you get
- Topic + keyword research (Ahrefs, SEMrush, GSC)
- Editorial calendar for first 3 months
- Brief template + writing system docs
- AI drafting workflow (Claude Pro prompts + writing standards)
- Editorial review checklist + AU English + brand voice guide
- SEO QA checklist (schema, internal linking, OG, AnswerBox)
- Publishing pipeline (Astro / WordPress / Shopify)
- Social repurposing templates (LinkedIn, Twitter, IG)
- GA4 + GSC reporting dashboard
- Training for your team + VA
- Optional monthly retainer for ongoing production
This is ideal for
- AU SMBs with proven SEO opportunity but no content production capacity
- Service businesses building authority in a competitive niche
- Founders sick of writing one blog post per quarter and getting zero traffic
This is NOT ideal for
- Brand-new businesses without product-market fit (focus on customer development first)
- B2B accounts targeting <50 prospects total (content is too broad for that)
AI content engines built badly are the cheapest way to destroy your SEO. Built well they’re the cheapest way to dominate your category. The difference is entirely process, and process is what we build.
What this actually does
An AI content engine is a structured pipeline that produces publishable, search-worthy content at a marginal cost most businesses can’t match by hiring writers, without producing the generic slop that Google and readers both punish. The whole design is a human-AI loop: humans set direction and guard quality at the points that matter, AI does the heavy lifting in the middle.
The pipeline has clear stages, and the order is deliberate:
- Topic research from real data. We pull from Ahrefs, SEMrush and Google Search Console to find topics you can actually rank for, not topics that sound nice. This is a human-and-tools step, because keyword judgement matters.
- Briefs written by a human. A brief sets the angle, the intent, the structure and the points only your business knows. This is the single biggest lever on whether the output is good. Briefs are written by Jenn or a senior editor initially, and your team can take them over after 90 days with the templates we provide.
- AI-assisted drafting. Claude Pro drafts against the brief and your writing standards. This is where the speed comes from. A good brief plus a capable model produces a strong first draft in minutes, not days.
- Editorial review by a human. Every piece is reviewed against a checklist for accuracy, Australian English, brand voice, and the lived expertise that makes content credible. AI drafts; a human is accountable for what publishes.
- SEO QA. Schema, internal linking, Open Graph, the answer-box block, the things that decide whether the piece shows up and shows up well.
- Publishing and repurposing. Into Astro, WordPress or Shopify, then repurposed into LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram so one researched piece earns its keep across channels.
What 2026 AI can genuinely do here
Honest about the capability, because this is where most people either over-trust or under-trust the tools:
- Draft fast from a strong brief. Given a real brief and your standards, Claude produces a genuinely useful first draft quickly. The constraint stops being writing capacity and becomes brief and review capacity, which is a much cheaper constraint to staff.
- Repurpose across formats. One long piece becomes a LinkedIn post, a thread and an email with AI doing the reshaping, a human doing the final polish.
- Keep volume consistent. The engine ships 8-20 pieces a month at $20-50 marginal cost each, the kind of cadence that compounds into rankings, instead of one heroic post a quarter that does nothing.
What it cannot do: it cannot invent your expertise, it cannot fact-check itself reliably, and it cannot be the named author. Those are human jobs, and they’re exactly the jobs we keep human.
Why AI content tanks some sites and ranks others
This is the question everyone actually has. Generic AI content (no brief, no review, no real expertise, published raw) does tank, and deserves to: it’s indistinguishable from a million other prompts and adds nothing. AI-assisted content that’s briefed by a human, drafted with AI, reviewed by a human and grounded in your real expertise works, and the 2026 SEO consensus is that this human-AI loop is simply the standard way content gets made now. The question was never “AI or not”, it’s “what’s your process quality”.
E-E-A-T is the other half of it, and it’s non-negotiable in 2026. Experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust are what Google and AI Overviews use to decide whether to trust a page. We design real bylines with Person schema so your content is attributed to actual humans with actual credentials. Bylines must be real people. We don’t fabricate authors, and you shouldn’t either, because a fake expert is both an E-E-A-T failure and a consumer-law risk.
What it looks like in a real AU business
- The service business invisible in a competitive niche. A good business with a thin blog and competitors who out-publish them ten to one. We build the editorial calendar around the queries their customers actually search, then ship a steady cadence that closes the authority gap over months instead of years.
- The founder writing one post a quarter for nothing. The quarterly post never had a chance, no consistency, no internal linking, no topical depth. We replace heroic-but-rare with reliable-and-compounding, and the founder stops being the bottleneck.
- The SMB sitting on real SEO opportunity with no capacity. The keywords are winnable, the will is there, the writing hours aren’t. The engine supplies the hours via the AI middle of the loop while keeping the human judgement at the ends.
How the engagement runs
Project plus retainer. Setup is typically 4-6 weeks, from $4,500 AUD, then an ongoing retainer for production:
- Research and calendar. Topic and keyword research, and an editorial calendar for the first three months.
- System build. The brief template, the AI drafting workflow (Claude Pro prompts plus writing standards), the editorial review checklist with Australian English and brand voice, and the SEO QA checklist.
- Pipeline. Publishing wired into your platform (Astro, WordPress or Shopify), social repurposing templates, and a GA4 plus GSC reporting dashboard.
- Training and handover. We train your team and VA so the engine can run with less of us over time.
What you provide: your real expertise (interviews, source material, the things only you know), sign-off on direction, and real humans to carry bylines. What you get: a working content pipeline producing 8-20 pieces a month, the documented system to run it, and reporting to see it working. The retainer runs $1,500-$5,000/month depending on cadence, quoted in the discovery call.
The honest limitations
- It is not a “press go” machine. The quality lives in the brief and the review, both human. Remove the humans and you’re back to slop. We won’t sell you an unattended content firehose, because it doesn’t work and it can hurt your rankings.
- It needs your expertise to be any good. AI can structure and draft, but it can’t know what you know. The pieces that win are the ones carrying genuine first-hand insight, and that has to come from you.
- SEO is a slow compounding game. This builds authority over months, not a spike in a fortnight. If you need leads next week, outbound or ads is the honest answer, not content.
- Bylines must be real. No invented authors, ever. It’s an E-E-A-T failure and an Australian Consumer Law risk, and we won’t do it.
What “done” looks like
Every DotVA AI services engagement is fixed-scope, fixed-price, and fixed-timeline. No retainers without a defined deliverable. No “discovery phases” that turn into 6-month projects. The scoping call is free; the written quote that follows is what you sign off on.
Why we say no
We turn down roughly 30% of applications. Usually because the team isn’t ready, the goal isn’t clear, or there’s a simpler path that doesn’t need us. We’d rather tell you that on the discovery call than take a brief that won’t deliver. The shortest path to outcome isn’t always us.

Common questions
Won't AI content tank our SEO?
Generic AI content does. AI-assisted content that's briefed by a human, drafted with AI, reviewed by a human, and grounded in your actual expertise works. The 2026 SEO consensus is that the human-AI loop is the standard; the question is process quality.
Who writes the briefs?
Initially Jenn or a senior DotVA editor. After 90 days, your team can take over with the templates + standards we provide.
What about E-E-A-T and author bylines?
Critical in 2026. We design the byline + Person schema so AI Overviews and Google treat your content as authoritative. Bylines must be real humans.
Retainer cost?
$1,500-$5,000/month depending on cadence. Quoted in the discovery call.
